What we collect
Orders and rentals: name, company, email, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, what you bought or rented, and your answers at checkout, including your agreement to our Terms of Sale.
Unfinished checkouts: your email address and cart, if you enter your email at checkout and do not finish the order.
Payments: our payment provider handles your card details. We see limited details, such as the type of card and the last four digits.
Messages: what you send through a form, by email or by telephone, including drawings and specifications for custom work.
Marketing: your email address, if you ask for news or updates or for a notice when a product is back in stock.
Website use: pages visited, device and browser information, approximate location and how you reached the site. This comes from cookies and similar tools, as set out below.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
fill, ship and support your order, rental or custom job
remind you about a cart that you left at checkout
answer your messages
handle warranty claims and returns
send safety notices about a product you bought or rented
meet legal, tax, export and record-keeping duties
protect against fraud and keep the site secure
send marketing, if you agreed to receive it
understand how the site is used and improve it, and measure our advertising, if you allow those cookies
We collect only what we need for these purposes. We use your information for another purpose only with your consent, or where the law allows it.
Consent
By giving us your information for an order, a rental or a message, you consent to our use of it for that purpose. You can withdraw consent by giving us reasonable notice. We will tell you what that means for you. For example, we cannot fill an order without a shipping address. We may still have to keep some records by law.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
Squarespace: website, online store, forms, email marketing and Squarespace Payments
Payment processors: to take payment and prevent fraud
Shipping carriers, including Canada Post and FedEx, and customs brokers: to deliver your order
Google and Meta: website analytics and advertising measurement, if you allow those cookies
Our professional advisers: such as accountants and lawyers
Government authorities: where the law requires it, including for customs and export control
Outside Canada
Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information there can be subject to the laws of that country, and authorities there may be able to reach it. If we ship to you in another country, your details go to carriers and customs authorities in that country. Contact our Privacy Officer if you have questions about this.
Cookies and advertising
The site uses cookies that it needs to work, such as for your cart and checkout. If you choose to accept them, it also uses analytics and advertising tools from Google and Meta. Those tools can show how visitors use the site, and can measure or personalize advertising.
You make this choice in the cookie banner. You can also block cookies in your browser, although some of the site may then stop working.
Marketing email
We send marketing email only if you agreed to it, or where the law otherwise allows it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you.
If you enter your email at checkout and do not finish the order, we may send you a reminder about your cart 1 day later.
We can still send messages about your order, a warranty or product safety.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for these purposes or as the law requires.
Orders, rentals and invoices: at least 6 years, for tax purposes, and as long as we may need to send safety notices about a product
Messages: up to 2 years, or longer if they relate to an order or a claim
Custom work files: as long as we need them to support the work, or as we agree with you
If we use your information to make a decision that directly affects you, we keep it for at least one year after that. When we no longer need information, we destroy it or remove what identifies you.
How we protect it
We use safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the information. These include password-protected accounts, access limited to those who need it, and encrypted connections on the site. No internet service can be perfectly secure. If a breach could seriously harm you, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us for the personal information we hold about you, how we have used it, and who we have disclosed it to. You can also ask us to correct an error. Send your request to our Privacy Officer. We may ask you to prove who you are first.
We will answer within 30 business days, or tell you if the law gives us longer. We may charge a minimal fee for access, and we will give you a written estimate first. If we refuse any part of a request, we will tell you why.
If you have a concern, tell our Privacy Officer and we will look into it and reply.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its date. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell our customers.
